INTRODUCTION

Welcome This new section in the website is all about helping young Sudanese doctors pass the permanent registration examination for the Sudanese Medical council in order to get a license to practice medicine in Sudan. In this webpage I will provide sample questions that will cover the basics of the exam, and help those undergoing the exam plan their study.

  ABOUT THE EXAM

The exam has evolved in the previous years, yet the schedule is still variable and depends on the number of candidates applying for registration, but generally speaking the exam takes place every 3-4 weeks. The exam is computer based, it consists of two electronic papers and a video projected OSCE exam. Each paper consists of 80 questions in single best answer format (SBA) or best of five questions (BOF), the first paper covers internal medicine and pediatrics, the second paper covers surgery, obstetrics and gynecology. OSCE exam is also provided in SBA format, it consists of about 40 stations, covering all aspects of medical practice.

PREPARING FOR THE EXAM

The exam objectives are not clear yet as it is still evolving, and the knowledge level required from the candidates is variable. anything can appear in the exam! I am not saying its an impossible exam, not it is not, but it is not an easy one also! Like any other postgraduate exam it needs good preparation. For studying, I recommend reading Oxford Handbook of clinical medicine & Clinical specialties. Tropical medicine notes and books are useful also. Do lots of pervious exams and OSCEs. I have compiled 2 free e-books that will help you, hope they would be useful.
